Parryville citing property owners
Parryville plans to crack down on delinquent property owners.
Borough council this week gave permission to its zoning/code enforcement officer, Light-Heigel & Associates Inc., to issue citation letters to property owners who are noncompliant.
Council President Cathy Hawk said in the past few months, the borough’s code enforcement and zoning officer has been working with the borough on getting compliance.
Hawk said that letters were sent out in the fall, and were reviewed again.
“We did give permission to our zoning officer, to people who were noncompliant, to go ahead and do citation letters,” Hawk said. “For those who are partially compliant, suggested we give an additional deadline; for those who are totally compliant, the borough is very thankful.”
Second amendment sanctuary
Also on Monday, Jim Thorpe native Brandon Bell approached council asking it to consider making the borough a second amendment sanctuary.
“There were a number of constituents (residents) who are totally in favor of it who also came to the meeting that heard he was coming and they came to support him,” Hawk said. “We had nobody who was against it.”
Hawk said council didn’t take any action on Bell’s request.
Dog ordinance
Hawk said there was also some chatter from residents about needing to enforce and review the borough’s dog ordinance.
“Some residents have been allowing their dogs to run free,” she said. “We will be reviewing that and seeing how we can tighten that up.”
