The Pottsville man charged with assaulting an 11-month-old in Port Carbon will have to answer for the charges in Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas.
Patrick Tyler Curran had a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Magisterial District Judge David Plachko’s office. All charges were held for court.
Police charged Curran, 27, with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of endangering the welfare of children, all felonies, and one count each of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, both misdemeanors, and a summary charge of harassment.
State Police at Schuylkill Haven charged Curran with assaulting the child last September, potentially causing long-term injuries.
Police were called Sept. 26 to the 400 block of Second Street to help Schuylkill EMS with an incident where the infant fell off the bed. However, they were later told assistance was not needed.
The child was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown, and police were told by an employee the injuries to his brain appeared to be consistent with abuse or assault.
