Colonial League President and Northern Lehigh Athletic Director Bryan Geist recently released a statement concerning the upcoming spring sports season.
The contents of the press release are as follows:
“The Colonial League has approved Spring 2021 Game Day Plans for all sports. In conjunction with the Colonial League’s Official Sports Medicine Partner, Lehigh Valley Health Network and in consultation with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Colonial League has developed and approved plans that will safely allow all of our spring sports contests to be played as scheduled.
The Colonial League will continue to follow its screening process for coaches, athletes and officials. Also, spectators will be permitted to attend and must follow the Pennsylvania Department of Health guidance regarding face coverings, facility capacity limitations and family household clustering.
Face coverings will be required for spectators, coaches, athletes not participating in the practice or contest, and game officials/event staff.
Member schools will have specific facility information based on the respective sport. Spectator areas and player areas will be marked in accordance with the league and respective school district safety plans.
As Pennsylvania guidelines change, the Colonial League will reassess accordingly. We are looking forward to this outdoor spring season and want to provide an opportunity for the athletes to participate in the spring sports season that was eliminated in 2020.”
Area schools that participate in the Colonial League include Northern Lehigh, Northwestern and Palmerton.
