Americans should be outraged at Biden immigration action
On the day of his inauguration, Biden signed a stack of executive actions designed to dismantle the Trump administration’s immigration policy while instituting the administration’s new priorities.
With a stroke of his pen, Biden ended construction of the border wall, imposed a 100-day deportation freeze, and released a comprehensive immigration plan opponents call an “amnesty.”
Even the language changed. The Department of Homeland Security replaced all future references of “illegal immigrant” and “alien” with the less-stigmatized term “noncitizen.”
Since assuming office, Biden administration officials have avoided calling the escalating thousands of illegal daily border crossings a “crisis.” WH Press Secretary Jen Psaki has instead referred to it as a “situation.”
When Barack Obama was president they called the area where they kept children crossing the border, “Immigration Detention Centers.”
Under President Donald Trump, Democrats and the liberal press used the more derogatory term - “cages” - to describe these centers.
Now, under Biden, they call the exact same thing “Migrant Child Facilities.”
The word games may not seem all that serious to most people but the meaning is clear to the demoralized border agents affected by the anti-enforcement approach of the Biden administration.
Border enforcement officials fear that at the very core of the Biden strategy is the dismantling of ICE and the termination of its enforcement role. This can be accomplished by draining the agency of resources, personnel and authority.
Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins argues that President Biden has already “dismantled ICE” by basically telling agents to stand down.
Jenkins said the pendulum swing has been so extreme, it literally feels like agents have gone from the ability to fully enforce our immigration laws to now being told to enforce nothing.
“Noncitizens” will be encouraged to submit filings to immigration officials without fear of being immediately deported.
Under the new guidelines, ICE officers will no longer seek deportations for immigrants convicted of drunken driving and assault and ICE would cease to pursue deportations of convicted drug criminals, DUI drivers, low-level assaulters, fraudsters and thieves.
“One thing that’s always considered in the deportations are the criminal histories, so regardless of the felony, regardless of the event, the crime these people are going to roam our streets with impunity,” Jenkins warned. “It’s absolutely ridiculous.”
Jenkins said that the Biden administration was so “angry at President Trump” they were willing to destroy any policies that enhanced his legacy, even if it meant sacrificing immigration enforcement.
The American citizens will be the ones who suffer the consequences of the Democrats’ ongoing “hate Trump” vendetta. Ending basic border enforcement will lead to more victims of crime, more human trafficking and more violent gangs infiltrating this country.
