Northern Lehigh School Board took the following action on Monday:

Financial

• Approved the purchase of a new John Deere zero turn mower through CoStars at a cost not to exceed $12,150.

• Agreed to advertise to hire five summer workers and one supervisor. The rate for summer workers will not exceed $10 per hour, and the rate for the supervisor will not exceed $15 per hour.

• Ratified a contract between the district and the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21 to continue the Student Driver Education Program at no cost to the district, effective July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022.

Legal

• On a 7-2 vote, with directors Bob Kern and Robin Distler opposed, approved the agreement with King, Spry, Herman, Freund & Faul, LCC for legal services to the district through Jan. 31, 2024.

Curriculum & Instruction

• Authorized the superintendent to execute an agreement between the district and the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21 to provide special education services for the 2021-2022 school year.

Policy

• Approved the Lehigh Valley Hot Air Balloon Association to use the district’s parking lot facilities on Oct. 24 for the festival to be held at the Slatington Airport.
