March 13, 1982 - Nine Times News area Class 2A wrestlers qualify for the state tournament after finishing in the top three at the Southeast Regionals. Three of the nine, Northern Lehigh’s Jim Milot and Darrin Evans and Lehighton’s Dennis Semmel, earn regional titles. Milot gains a 5-2 decision win in the 98-pound finals, while Evans registers a pin in the 167-pound championship bout. Semmel’s 8-7 victory at 112 gives him a gold medal, as well. Others advancing include Northern Lehigh’s Chris Grammes (second at 155) and Dan Evans (third at 185), Panther Valley’s Marty Maurer (third at 155), Tom Tessitore (third at 167) and Ron Goides (third at heavyweight), and Lehighton’s Glenn Whiteman (second at 145).
