Weatherly man charged with indecent assault of mentally challenged woman

A Weatherly man has been charged with the indecent assault of a mentally challenged woman.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by trooper James Quiroz of the Pennsylvania State Police Hazleton barracks in the case against William Wilkinson:

On Feb. 23, police were contacted about an allegation of inappropriate behavior from Wilkinson, 69, at a home in the 2200 block of Hudson Drive, Packer Township.

The barracks has had investigations at this residence in 2018 for inappropriate behavior which led to charges being brought forward against Wilkinson. The 2018 allegations were for inappropriate sexual behavior by Wilkinson toward the nurse’s aides that were caring for the victim.

On Feb. 24, police made a referral to the Carbon County Area Agency on Aging regarding the victim, a female.

An agent from Liberty Health Adult Protective Services, contracted by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, traveled to the home to ensure the well-being of the victim.

The victim disclosed she did not feel safe at the residence.

The agent asked the victim if she knew the difference between good touch and bad touch, and she said she did.

She said Wilkinson touched her breast.

Trooper John Lutchko III, PSP Criminal Investigations Unit Member and Quiroz was called in on the case.

Wilkinson was charged and is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility, with bail denied.

He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of Weatherly.
