State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:51 a.m. on Feb. 27 along Route 54 in Rush Township. Troopers said Michael D. Kranch, 39, of Mahanoy City, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado truck eastbound when he lost control on the snow-covered road. The vehicle went onto the south berm and hit a utility pole. The truck traveled in a northeast direction and came to final rest southeast in the east travel lane.
Kranch was not injured.
Troopers said traffic was detoured for several hours due to low lying wires and the pole needing to be replaced. Troopers were assisted by volunteers from the Hometown Fire Company.
Kranch was cited for the crash.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 3:52 a.m. on Feb. 27 along Route 895 in East Brunswick Township. Troopers said Derick J. Decastro, 22, of Reading, was driving a 2005 Acura TSX westbound when he lost control on the snow-covered roadway. The vehicle went on to the north berm, struck a utility pole and came to rest blocking the westbound lane facing north.
Decastro and his passenger, Grandley S. Gregorio, 21, of Stoughton, Massachusetts, were taken to the St. Luke’s-Geisinger Hospital, Orwigsburg, for treatment of suspected minor injuries. The Acura was towed.
Decastro was cited for the crash.
• A hit-and-run crash was reported on Feb. 19 at 8:49 p.m. at the intersection of West Apple Street and Market Street, in Ringtown. Troopers said a parked 2017 Volkswagen Passat was struck by another vehicle whose driver then fled the scene. Damages were minor to the Passat.
