Prothonotary Kayla M. Semmel released the statistical report of activities for her office for the month of January 2021.
There were 746 cases started in December with the following breakdown: civil actions, 20; custody, 8; DJ appeal, 3; divorce, 16; assessment appeal, 1; license appeal, 1; mortgage foreclosures, 2; protection from abuse, 23; quiet title, 1; declaratory judgment, 1; STIP/WAIV/LIENS, 5; judgments, 631; miscellaneous, 2; custody modifications, 16; writs, 3; equity, 1; name change, 1; replevin, 1; aud/fin/reports, 2; CT appointments, 9.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, passports are now being processed by appointment.
Total income generated was $38,257.74; prothonotary fees, $27,322.48; custody/divorce fees, $1,225; data processing fees, $8,543; interest income, $9.86; PFA surcharge sheriff, $61.40; PFA surcharge courts, $75; and stenographer fees, 1,021.
In addition to the above fees, the office remitted to the county for the remote access fund for remote access fees of $14,200, remitted to the state department of revenue (fees collected on new cases) $3,095.14; and automation fund $2,645.95, money collected for future automation and improvements to the office.
