Panther Valley High School senior Gary Karnish, who was recently named the 1985-86 Schuylkill County Scholar Athlete, will participate in the 175th birthday celebration of the County of Schuylkill that will take place in March at the county courthouse.

Karnish, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Karnish of Lansford, will present remarks on the history of the county and its courthouse as part of a program that will acknowledge the original dedication of the courthouse in 1891.

Karnish was a star player on the Panthers’ gridiron team this past fall and has accepted a scholarship to study and play football at Lehigh University.
