Lehighton, Northwestern and Marian all posted wins in boys and girls basketball on Tuesday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lehighton-Tamaqua

Lehighton outscored Tamaqua in every quarter to coast to a 49-27 Schuylkill League victory.

Dylan Guyn scored a game-high 13 points for the Indians (7-7; 6-4), who led by 10 points at halftime.

The winners also received 10 points from Cassisy Schaeffer.

For the Blue Raiders (2-16, 1-11), Steven Hoffman finished with a team-high seven points.

Marian-Mahanoy Area

Dewin Concepcion scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the second half to help Marian hold off Mahanoy Area for a 64-52 Schuylkill League victory.

The Colts (12-2; 10-2) secured the win by going 10-of-12 at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.

Brendan Lonergan contributed 15 points to the Marian cause, while Frank Valente chipped in with eight. Concepcion also pulled down eight rebounds.

The Bears (2-15) received a team-high 23 points from Colm McGroarty.

Northwestern-Whitehall

Northwestern needed overtime to gain a 46-42 nonleague victory over Whitehall.

The Tigers (11-4) outscored the Zephyrs by a 7-3 count in the extra period to match their win total from a year ago.

Cayden Fitch collected a team-high 16 points for Northwestern, while Jared Stitzel added 11. The winners, who gained over half of their total on three-pointers, also received 10 from Dylan Witkowski.

Whitehall’s Luke Gilbert led all scorers with 18 points.

Panther Valley-Pottsville

Pottsville needed a strong finish to pull away from a pesky Panther Valley squad and gain a 58-46 Schuylkill League victory.

The Panthers used 11 first-quarter points from Stephen Hood to jump out to a 13-9 advantage, but the Tide used a 20-10 second frame to gain the lead.

Hood finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds to pace PV (4-10; 2-9), while Bradley Hood chipped in with eight points and Austin Hadley collected 14 rebounds.

Pottsville (12-2; 11-1) received a team-high 16 points from Jazce Carabello-Snowell.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tamaqua-Lehighton

Lehighton used a solid fourth quarter to earn a 57-48 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.

Taylor Bowman scored six of her 11 points in the final frame as the Indians used a 17-9 period to secure the win.

Hailey Miller finished with a game-high 18 points for Lehighton (9-8; 6-7), while Alexis Solomon added nine.

The Blue Raiders (11-7; 10-4) received 12 points from Sophia Boyle, while Serena Jones and Trenyce Wingler both ended the contest with 11.

Jim Thorpe rolled to a 48-19 nonleague victory over Weatherly.

Leila Hurley and Skyler Searfoss both had six first-quarter points as the Olympians (14-4) built a 20-point lead.

Searfoss and Leah Snisky each finished with 10 points, while Hurley and Olivia Smelas both added nine.

For the Wreckers, now 2-14, Ashley James tallied eight points, and Bethany Houser chipped in with seven.

Four players scored in double figures to lead Minersville to a 65-46 nonleague win over Panther Valley.

Shea Hossler and Abigail Adams both finished with 19 points for the Miners (10-3).

The Panthers (4-14) received 21 points and six rebounds from Maddison Maynard, while Sera Robin contributed 12 points and five steals. Erika Dubosky also scored nine points and pulled down 10 boards.

Paige Sevrain’s 23 points lifted Northwestern to a 47-30 nonleague victory over Whitehall.

Sevrain tallied nine of her points during the fourth quarter, as the Tigers (12-1) sealed the win with a 19-point period. Alexandra Lister added nine points.

Ella Loky and Olivia Hines paced the Zephyrs (4-7) with nine points apiece.

Marian ended a four-game losing streak with a convincing 58-19 Schuylkill League victory over Schuylkill Haven.

Frankie Martinelli and Ashley Pleban both scored 13 points to lead the Fillies (3-7; 3-6), who jumped out to a 15-point lead after the first quarter.

Abigail Roshannon led the Hurricanes (0-12) with eight points.

In girls action, the Eagles posted a 129-54 win, while the boys cruised to a 126-44 victory.

Cole Dietz hit five three-pointers to lead the Indians (12-1) with 17 points, while Blake Roberts chipped in with 14.

Brody Breiner paced the Panthers with eight points.

7TH GRADE

Panther Valley-Lehighton

Panther Valley defeated Lehighton, 26-21.

Brody Breiner led the Panthers with 16 points. The Indians’ Kieler Kemmerer recorded a team-high 14 points.

JR. HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL

8TH GRADE

Lehighton-Panther Valley

Lehighton knocked off Panther Valley, 28-16.

Emma Retsher led the Indians with 10 points, while Savanna Wehr added seven. Natalie Vermillion had seven points for PV.

7th Grade

Lehighton-Panther Valley

Lehighton registered a 37-13 victory over Panther Valley.

Olivia Serfass posted 10 points to lead the Indians, while Ryleigh Trotman contributed seven.

The Panthers’ Morgan Orsulak scored six points.
