Local Roundup: Results from Feb. 12

The Palmerton boys basketball team stayed hot with a victory over Roberto Clemente Charter School on Friday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

R. Clemente-Palmerton

Palmerton won its sixth game in a row, edging Roberto Clemente Charter School 59-57 in a non-league contest.

Kody Kratzer collected a game-high 28 points as the Blue Bombers improved to 8-4.

The winners also received 12 points from Matthew Machalik, while Tyler Stuck added eight.

Jose Zayas tallied a team-high 25 points for the Pirates (4-9).

Catasauqua-Lehighton

Lehighton’s Richard Yturrino scored a game-high 24 points, but it wasn’t enough as Catasauqua gained a 50-47 non-league victory.

The Rough Riders improved to 4-9 as Derek Troxell tallied a team-high 16 points and Cole Schiffer added 15.

Mason Costenbader and Carter Strauss both chipped in with six points for the Indians (5-7).

In the JV game, Lehighton earned a 37-36 win.

Nicco Heimbaugh drilled six three-pointers and scored 20 points to lead Pottsville to a 73-31 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.

The Tide (12-2; 10-1) also got 16 points from Jazce Carabello-Snowell.

For Tamaqua (2-15; 1-10), Luke Verta led the way with 12 points.

Northern Lehigh’s Aubrey Pollard outscored the entire Moravian Academy team as the Bulldogs posted a 51-20 Colonial League victory.

Pollard tallied 23 points, including 10 in the second quarter when Nolehi used a 21-5 period to extend a slim two-point lead.

The Bulldogs (4-4; 4-4) also received 12 points from both Emma Niebell and Madison Seier.

A big game from Elyssa Yeagley helped Williams Valley pull away from Marian for a 46-33 Schuylkill League victory.

Yeagley finished with a game-high 23 points, including 10 in the opening quarter as the Vikings built a 15-5 lead.

The Fillies (2-7; 2-6) received a team-high 11 points from Carly Minchoff, while Frankie Martinelli chipped in with eight.

Morgan Orsulak scored eight to pace PV, while Natalie Vermillion added seven.

7TH GRADE

Panther Vy.-N. Schuylkill

Panther Valley dropped a 34-11 decision to North Schuylkill.

Morgan Orsulak scored all 11 points for the Panthers.

The Spartans were led by Brigid Flynn’s 10 points.
