Prayer shawl work

Effort UMC’s Prayer Shawl group will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. They are meeting in the former day care kitchen area so appropriate social distances can be kept.

Chestnuthill meeting

The Board of Supervisors for Chestnuthill Township is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the township municipal building in Brodheadsville.

Sale underway

Effort UMC’s current soup sale is underway. Being offered this time are PA Dutch ham, potato and cabbage soup as well as Italian chicken noodle.

Orders are being accepted through Wednesday. Pickup of orders is on Feb. 21.

Eldred Township

The Board of Supervisors of Eldred Township is to meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 17 at the township municipal center on Kunkletown Road. Meetings are held virtually and in person. Check the township’s website or call 610-381-4252 to verify.

Sub vets meet

The U.S. Submarine Veterans, Pocono Base, meet regularly on the third Wednesday of each month at the Wilson Fisher American Legion, Post 413, Old Route 940, in Pocono Pines.

They are a local chapter of the national organization U.S. Submarine Veterans Inc.

The purpose of the organization is to perpetuate the memory of shipmates who gave their lives in the pursuit of their duties while serving their country. Submarine veterans from all eras are encouraged to join. This month’s meeting will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 17.

Music bingo

Post 927, American Legion, is hosting Saturday Nights Music Bingo, beginning at 7 p.m.

Lenten series

Effort UMC will host a Lenten series based on Seven Things the Lord Hates featuring the North District clergy. It will begin at 7 p.m. Feb. 17 in the sanctuary.

Due to the COVID-19 church guidelines and restrictions, this study will be available for up to 40 people. Registration is required.

Zion Lutheran will have its ashes-to-go on Feb. 17, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The regular worship service will be at 7:30 p.m.

Give blood

On Feb. 22, St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, is hosting a Miller-Keystone blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. in their social hall.

Habitat collects

During the month of February, Monroe County Habitat for Humanity will partner with Street2Feet, the only homeless day care center in Stroudsburg, to collect winter necessities and personal care products for its day care center clients.

New personal care items such as hand soap, hand sanitizer, deodorant, shower gel, lotions, towels and washcloths are needed, as are winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, socks and T-shirts.

In addition to these personal items, unopened bottled water, juices, breakfast foods and snacks are also appreciated, says Dr. Kelly Kemmerer, MCHFH’s executive director.

The items may be brought to the Street2Feet location at 130 N. First St., Stroudsburg, Suite 102.

Blood drive set

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, is hosting a Miller-Keystone Blood Center blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 28, at the church in the parking lot.
