Free dinner
Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is holding its free monthly community dinner tonight due to Ash Wednesday being next Wednesday, Feb. 17.
The drive-thru meal pickup will be in service from 5 to 6 p.m.
Legion Auxiliary
The American Legion Auxiliary is slated to meet at 7 p.m. today at the Legion Post Home in Gilbert, with Executive Committee meeting at 6 p.m.
Free family food
The free Farmers to Families Food Boxes will again be available at the Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.
No registration is necessary, says church administrator Olga Schillinger. Just drive up and pick up.
Healing Mass
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will celebrate the World Day of the Sick, memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes, with a healing Mass and anointing of the Sick at 12:10 p.m. Thursday.
Parishioners who are unable to attend Mass and who would like to be anointed at home are asked to call the church office at 610-681-6137.
Holy water blessed at this Mass will be brought to the homebound parishioner by their parish visitor.
Tea workshop
Quiet Valley, Monroe County’s living historical farm, has announced it is having an herbal tea making workshop from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Engel Education Center.

Lovers program
Monroe County Conservation District has announced a Nature is for Lovers program for Saturday.
The adults-only program will discover the romantic antics of some furry, feathered and scaly friends as participants take a leisurely walk along the wintry trails, making stops along the way for a trivia-style game all about the birds and the bees.
The education center building will be closed and the trails may be snow-covered, so one should dress accordingly. Masks will be required of all participants. There is a cost.

Drive-in breakfast
McMichaels UMC is having a donation-only drive-in breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
Distribution day
The Supplemental Food Resource Center at Effort UMC will be doing a distribution time from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
It is currently a drive-up/pickup service only.
Those able to donate items, requested specifically are pasta and sauce.

Pinecone feeders
Once again the West End Park & Open Space Commission has announced a free family event, making pine cone bird feeders.
It is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday to make on-site at the Chestnuthill Township Park in Brodheadsville.
Families can also pick up materials to make at home.
People will receive all the materials to make a natural bird feeder for our feathered friends to enjoy a tasty treat.
A reminder to families, peanut butter will be used.
COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. All are asked to wear a mask.

Water baptism
Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, is holding a water baptism Sunday during the 11 a.m. service.
Marriage celebrated
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, will hold a special Mass celebrating all married couples at 11 a.m. Sunday.
A special acknowledgment of those couples celebrating 25 or 50-plus years will be made, providing the church has been contacted.
The Mass will be livestreamed.
Gifts accepted
The Kunkletown Thrift Store at the Eldred Community Center, the former Eldred Elementary School, has announced that appointments are no longer needed to make donations. They are accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday through Friday.
However, donors are asked to not just drop donations inside the door, but to find a volunteer or the cashier, and that person will direct the donors to where to go.
It is also asked that the bags or boxes are not made too heavy, keeping in mind the age of most volunteers.
Currently the store offers not only clothing but also Easter knickknacks and dolls, as well as kitchen furniture, an organ and more.
Masks must be worn by all visitors, whether donors or shoppers.
