NL student reps share their learning experiences with board

A pair of Northern Lehigh High School students shared their experiences with the hybrid model that they are currently learning under.

The testimonials came from Aidan Williams and Paige Craddock during Monday’s school board meeting.

Williams, a senior, and Craddock, a junior, serve as the two student representatives to the board.

Aidan Williams

“Personally, it has been a really strange senior year, for obvious reasons,” Williams said. “Throughout the year, I’ve only had between one and two classes actually on the campus, and even then I was only in school for two days a week.

“So it has been at some times very stressful to try to figure out my schedule for the day (was I virtual or in-person that day) because it feels like it’s changing constantly.

“But, despite that, it has been helpful a lot of the times because I don’t have to worry about actually being on the campus all the time, so it’s allowed me to work more hours and spend more time working on my dual enrollment.

“Also, now that I’m only in school for a few days a week and only for a few blocks at that, it keeps me excited for when I’m actually in school with my classmates.

“So despite this being an unprecedented year with many ups and downs, I feel personally that I’ve been able to make the most of it.”

Paige Craddock

“I can agree, it’s been like pretty crazy this year,” said. “I do the hybrid model where I go in Thursday and Friday.

“I’ve also had a lot of ups and downs in my first semester. It was pretty stressful; it’s been pretty hard to like motivate myself especially like on Mondays and Tuesdays where you know I’m sitting on my bed for like six hours. It gets a little hard.

“But my first semester I had Ms. (Janelle) Scheckler’s class, and she’s my fourth block, and she’s one of the sweetest teachers I’ve ever had, and she’s just very understanding and she really motivated me, especially on those days where I wasn’t in school. I just wanted to give special thanks to her.

“And for my second semester, which we just started, it’s been going pretty well, a lot of my teachers, they’ve been really nice, understanding, with like my Wi-Fi not working.

“For me it’s been pretty good so far.”
