Local Roundup: Results from Feb. 8
Tamaqua swept Salisbury in swimming Monday, and also gained a win in girls basketball action.
Other winners included the Weatherly boys, and the Jim Thorpe, Northwestern and Northern Lehigh girls.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Williams Valley-Weatherly
Scotty Zoscin registered a double-double to help Weatherly earn a 47-44 Schuylkill League victory over Williams Valley.
Zoscin collected a team-high 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Wreckers (11-3; 7-3) won their third straight game.
Ian McLaurin contributed nine points and six boards, while Antonio Colecio also finished with nine points - including a three-pointer in the fourth quarter that gave his team a lead it would never relinquish.
The Vikings received a game-high 20 points from Jake Herman.
In the JV game, Weatherly posted a 47-27 win behind 23 points from Jayden Eubanks.

Jim Thorpe’s Leila Hurley poured in 15 of her game-high 22 points in the first half as the Olympians built a big lead and cruised to a 56-29 Schuylkill League win over Pottsville.
The winners, who led by 20 at the break, also received 12 points from Skyler Searfoss and nine from Leah Snisky.
Julia Kowalski paced the Crimson Tide with 11 points.
Thorpe improved to 12-3 overall, and 10-0 in the league.

Raegan Copper tallied eight of her 16 points in the fourth period to help the Crusaders pull out the victory. Antonia Bates paced the winners with 18 points.

Emma Hope (12 points and 11 rebounds) and Serena Jones (12 points and 10 rebounds) both had double-doubles for the winners, who were led in scoring by Trenyce Wingler with 13.
Tamaqua (9-5; 8-3) also received 12 points from Sophia Boyle and 11 from Makenna Kane.
The Raiders took control of the contest by outscoring their opponent 23-11 in the third quarter.
In the JV game, the Eagles earned a 48-43 win despite 17 points from Tamaqua’s Lorelei Plasha.

Tamaqua swept Salisbury in nonleague swimming action.
The Blue Raiders cruised to a 108-57 victory in the girls meet, while the boys rolled to a 105-29 win.
Lexi Buchala (200 IM, 100 butterfly), Nathaniel Kovalchick (200 freestyle, 100 butterfly), Joey Lescavage (200 IM, 500 freestyle) and Ethan Amershek (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) all posted multiple individual wins for Tamaqua.
The Raiders also received firsts from Rylee Wenzel (50 freestyle), Nicole Aguero-Ramirez (100 freestyle), Gabby Blasko (500 freestyle), Hailey Toth (100 breaststroke), Brandon Long (100 backstroke) and Stephen Behun (100 breaststroke).
