Pair of bids received for Mahoning Valley Fire Company rehabilitation project

A bid for a project to refurbish the Mahoning Valley Volunteer Fire Company could be awarded soon.

The township received two bids for the rehabilitation project, township secretary Natalie Haggerty said.

Haggerty said bids were received from F.J. Lesher General Contractor, Palmerton, and R.C. Construction Associates Inc.

She said Lesher broke it up into two parts: $40,000 for flooring, and $19,500 for appliances, while R.C. Construction Associates Inc. bid $127,215 for flooring and appliances.

Action on the bid is scheduled to be taken at the Mahoning Township board of supervisors meeting at 6 p.m. Feb. 10.

Fire Chief Mark Ebbert previously said the project will consist of redoing the fire company’s floor, social hall and kitchen.

Ebbert said the social hall floor is the original floor and had been the garage floor that had been used to house the apparatus.

He added that the kitchen appliances are fairly old as well.

The fire company received a Local Share Assessment grant in the amount of $66,319 in 2019.
