Thursday virus report: 3,370 new cases across Pa.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Thursday, there were 3,370 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 856,986.

There are 3,224 individuals people with COVID-19. Of that number, 657 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

As of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, there were 146 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 22,101 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Local numbers

• Carbon County added 15 new cases since Wednesday for a total of 4,471. One more death was reported for a total of 128.

• Lehigh County has 28,487 cases, an increase of 60, with three more deaths for a total of 695.

• Luzerne County has 23,180 cases, an increase of 112. There were two more deaths, bringing the total to 647.

• In Monroe County, there are 23 new cases for a total of 8,736. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 248.

• In Northampton County, there are 68 additional cases, for a total of 23,867. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 576.

• Schuylkill County reported 11,325 total cases, 20 new cases. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 341.
