Girl Scouts collecting for Palmerton pantry

Girl Scout Service Unit 728 in Palmerton will be hosting its annual “Souperbowl” soup collection outside of the Country Harvest grocery store this weekend to benefit the Christian Action Council of Palmerton Area Churches food pantry.

In the last 10 years, the service unit has collected over 24,500 food items to benefit families from all over Carbon County. Each member of the service unit plays a role in the collection.

The collection starts at 5 p.m. today and continues through the weekend.

Following local and state guidelines, the service unit and any potential donators will be required to wear masks at all times and practice social distancing.

The community can drop off cans in the bins stationed outside of the grocery store.
