Snow cancellations, announcements
Here is a list of weather announcements due to the storm:
Counties
• Schuylkill and Carbon county offices will be closed Monday.
Municipalities
• Chestnuthill Township Recycling Center will be closed Monday due to inclement weather.
• Jim Thorpe has declared a snow emergency as of 10 a.m. Sunday and it will continue through the duration of the storm and complete snow/ice removal and clean up.
There shall be no parking on the odd side of the street beginning at 6 p.m. All cars should be removed from the odd side of the street before 6 p.m. Due to the projected length of the storm, please do not move your vehicle back to the odd side of the street until the borough issues notification to do so.
• Lansford: Parking restrictions will go into effect at 6 p.m. No parking along the entire length of these streets:
Water, Kline, Snyder, Front.
No parking on the South (even) side of Patterson St. (209) for the entire length through the borough.
No parking on Spring Garden Street, West Side (even) between Bertsch St and Abbott Street.
• Lehighton Borough has declared a snow emergency in effect at 6 p.m. today.

Due to the weather, Lehighton Borough Council has rescheduled its meeting to 7 p.m. Feb. 8.
• The Lower Towamensing Township municipal office plans to be open on Monday, but call before traveling to the office.
• Slatington Borough will be operating under a snow emergency now until 1 p.m. on Tuesday. The municipal office will be open on Monday, but call before leaving for the office.
• Summit Hill Borough will be in a state of emergency beginning at midnight Sunday night until further notice. With that, a vehicular travel ban will be in effect. Driving on borough streets will be prohibited except for people going to or coming from work, moving your vehicle as directed for snow plowing/removal operations or as otherwise authorized by borough officials and police.
• The Borough of Walnutport will be under a snow emergency from 5 p.m. Sunday until further notice. During the snow emergency all vehicles must be removed from snow emergency routes. We are also asking that if you have alternative parking to please move as many cars as you can from all borough roads so curb to curb plowing can be completed.
• The West Penn board of supervisors meeting scheduled for Monday night has been postponed. The board will meet Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Schools
• St. Jerome Regional School will have a flexible instructional day Monday. The school building will be closed. No students or staff will be reporting in-person to school on Monday.
This flex day will require students to work virtually from home. Work will be uploaded to Google Classroom by 9 a.m. Monday.
• Jim Thorpe Area School District will be closed Monday.
On Monday at 6 p.m. the school board will still hold a policy and personnel committee via Google Meet.
The meeting will be held virtually through Google Meet.
• Northern Lehigh: Monday will be a fully remote day. All students will remain home and be expected to complete any posted asynchronous assignments. There will be no non-public school transportation.
• Palmerton Area School District: Full remote learning day Monday.
• Pleasant Valley School District has announced all schools and offices will be operating remotely Monday.
• Tamaqua Area School District: virtual asynchronous learning day Monday.
• Weatherly Area School District: All classes will be held asynchronously on Monday. Students should check Google Classroom for posted assignments.
Sports
• The Northwestern Lehigh girls and boys basketball games against Saucon Valley that were scheduled for Monday, Feb. 1 have been postponed and rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 5.
• The Weatherly girls basketball game scheduled for Monday, Feb. 1 has been postponed and rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6.
• The Panther Valley boys and girls basketball games scheduled for Monday, Feb. 1 have been postponed. The boys game at Roberto Clemente Charter School has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 3. The girls game at Jim Thorpe has been rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 18.
Transportation
• The Schuylkill Transportation System will not provide service Monday because of the snow.
A post on the STS Facebook page said the fixed route and shared ride van transportation is canceled for Monday.
Updates will be provided on potential service disruptions as the storm continues if necessary.
• Due to inclement weather and road conditions, LANTA is canceling all LANtaBus, LANtaVan, and LANtaFlex service for Monday.
Vaccine Clinics
• St. Luke’s Vaccine Clinics – All locations will be closed on Monday and Tuesday. Anyone with an appointment for these days should call 1-866-STLUKES (785-8537), option 7 to reschedule. All existing appointments and boosters will be honored and expedited.
• Geisinger St. Luke’s Vaccine Clinic - Closed Monday. Anyone with an appointment for Monday should call 1-866-785-8537, option 7 to reschedule. All existing appointments and boosters will be honored and expedited.
Early deadline
The Times News is moving up its obituary deadline for Monday in order to get the newspaper out early and keep our staff safe.
The deadline for Monday’s publication will be 6 a.m.
