A Lansford man has been charged with repeatedly raping a young girl over a two-year span.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Joshua P. Tom of the Lansford Borough Police Department in the case against Santos Rodriguez:
The Lansford Police Department said an 8-year-old juvenile girl said Rodriguez, 54, began assaulting her in 2017 when she was 6. The last assault took place sometime in late 2019 when she was 8.
The victim said that these assaults took place when she was left alone with Rodriguez at his residence in the 300 block of East Kline Avenue.
The girl said these assaults happened like “50, 60, 70, or 80” times to her during those two years. She said the last assault was four weeks before the date of the initial report being April 30.
Rodriguez faces charges on four counts of aggravated indecent assault - less than 13; and two counts each of rape - forcible compulsion; rape - intercourse with victim less than 13; statutory sexual assault under 16; indecent assault; corruption of minors; and endangering welfare of children.
He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $200,000, 10% bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Feb. 10 before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford.
