300 virus deaths reported in Schuylkill

The Pennsylvania Department of Health Monday that there were 4,045 additional positive cases of COVID-19, in addition to 6,023 new cases reported Sunday, for a two-day total of 10,068 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 771,845.

There are 4,614 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, near double the peak in the spring. Of that number, 945 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19.

Statewide percent positivity for the week of Jan. 8 – Jan. 14 stood at 12.7%.

As of 11:59 p.m. Saturday,, there were 122 new deaths and as of 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, there were 80 new deaths reported for a total of 19,390 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 59,780 resident cases of COVID-19, and 11,184 cases among employees, for a total of 70,964 at 1,520 distinct facilities in all 67 counties. Out of our total deaths, 10,022 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

Pennsylvania hospitals began receiving shipments of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine the week of Dec. 14 and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine the week of Dec. 21.

Through Sunday, 457,347 doses of the vaccine have been administered. Please note that this does include vaccine administration through the CVS as part of the Federal Pharmacy Partnership.

There are 329,767 people that have received one dose (partially covered).

There are 63,790 people that have received two doses (fully covered).

The total is 457,347 doses administered.

Two-date totals are:

Locally, Carbon County added 80 new cases over two days for a total of 3,896. There are 108 deaths, two more since Saturday.

Lehigh County has 25,541 cases, an increase of 332, with seven more deaths for a total of 610.

Luzerne County has 20,763 cases, an increase of 325. There were seven more deaths, bringing the total to 542.

In Monroe County, there are 127 new cases since Saturday for a total of 7,743. One more death was reported for a total of 230.

In Northampton County, there are 284 additional cases, for a total of 20,432. Five more deaths were attributed to COVID-19 for a total of 511.

Schuylkill County reported 10,242 cases, an increase of 144 over two days. Eleven new deaths were reported, bringing the total to 300.
