Marian hosts polar plunge Jan. 30

Marian Catholic High School invites the local community to make a splash at the 8th Annual Polar Plunge on Jan. 30, at Mauch Chunk Lake Park in Jim Thorpe.

Event participants are welcome to either plunge into the icy waters or register as a “chicken” for $35 per person (plunger or chicken) or $25 for Marian High School students.

Registrants will receive a Polar Plunge T-shirt.

Spectators are welcome at no cost to cheer on participants. Masks and social distancing are required.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the beach area of the lake, and the first wave of plungers enter the water at noon. This year, many of Marian Catholic’s students, as well as faculty, staff, and parents, will take the plunge.

Live radio coverage will be provided by Ann Marie Calabrese of WMGH Magic 105.5.
