Frederica Winkler of Lansford, a World War II veteran and past commander of AMVETS Post 83, Lansford, was honored recently with the Post Commander’s Distinguished Service Certificate.
The 69-year-old Winkler was presented the award for “distinguished service rendered to the post and community by Commander Leo Olsovsky.
Winkler was a member of the U.S. Army Nurses Corps in Europe during the war, having served in France and Belgium.
A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Coury of Lansford, she is the widow of William H. Winkler and the mother of three children.
