Kidder Supervisors approve budget with no tax increase

Kidder Township supervisors unanimously approved the 2021 budget of just shy of $2 million at their December meeting. No township tax increase is planned.

The new 4WD pickup for the police department is slated to arrive on Jan. 4. Supervisors voted to approve the paperwork from Mauch Chunk Trust for the two-year lease that buys the truck, with an interest rate of 1.9%.

Chief of Police Matthew Kuzma’s new two-year contract received unanimous approval. Supervisor Bruce Berger’s idea to send a thank-you message to all township employees and volunteers was approved unanimously.

Bills of $470,471 were approved.

Blue Ridge Real Estate Company’s Lakeshore development, near Big Boulder, received a year’s extension for final plan review. The PennEast gas pipeline received a year’s extension for their land development for a pumping station off Route 940.

The township’s roads were in very good shape after the recent big snowfall. Supervisors praised the obvious hard work that was done.

Code enforcement officer Noel Torres was on the Zoom call. He received praise for his work. He has been visible, and his efforts to deter violations are working.

Township Manager Suzanne Brooks offered extra congratulations to the class of firefighters from the Lake Harmony Fire Company who recently earned their FF1 certificates. That class included code officer Torres.

The meeting wrapped up with Chairman Thomas Bradley joining fellow supervisors, manager Brooks and chief of police Kuzma in wishing all happy holidays and a safe new year.

Township offices will be open by appointment and closed New Year’s Day.
