State police at the Pocono barracks charged a Whitehall woman with driving under the influence of alcohol after they stopped to assist her when she had a flat tire on her car on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

It happened at 8:23 p.m. Dec. 15 on Interstate 476 southbound in Franklin Township, Carbon County. Police said when they approached the vehicle, Cheryl Endy, 52, was seated in the driver’s seat with the keys in the ignition and it was apparent she was extremely confused because she could not answer simple questions. Police said she had extreme difficulty exiting the vehicle and based on her instability and the fact that she could barely stand, no field sobriety tests were conducted.

She was processed for DUI at the barracks and released to a family member.
