The Schuylkill County Sheriff’s office is urging the public to be cautious about text messages regarding concealed carry permits.

The following was posted on the Schuylkill County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page Wednesday.

“There has been new scam sending text messages to people that have concealed carry permits to come in and renew or change information on their permits.”

With the new online system the sheriff’s office said there is no link that the office is using to tell people to renew or change information for license to carry.

“Please be advised to not click on the external links in the text messages,” the office said.

You can still apply online through the Schuylkill County government website under the Sheriff’s Office or through the external link the office has shared on Facebook.
