TASD announces virtual days

The Tamaqua Area School District announced virtual days proceeding the holiday break.

There will be districtwide asynchronous virtual days on Jan. 4-5.

Jan 6-8, secondary students will be synchronous and elementary will be asynchronous. Superintendent Ray Kinder addressed district families in a letter.

“The reason for the virtual days during the week of Jan. 4 are to minimize the risk of contact tracing that may need to occur after the traditional holiday break,” Kinder said.

“While we continue to encourage minimal gatherings that promote the spread of COVID-19, we hope that anyone developing symptoms from such events will be diagnosed prior to returning to in-person instruction. We hope to reduce any unnecessary quarantining of other students and/or staff. Anyone experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 must stay home, according to our procedures. We appreciate your cooperation.”

TASD students had an early dismissal on Wednesday and do not have school on Thursday.
