Lehighton’s Zach Hunsicker and Northwestern’s Justin Holmes were both named to the Pennsylvania Football Writers Class 4A All-State Team on Wednesday.
Hunsicker, a senior, was selected as a wide receiver while Holmes, a junior, was named as an offensive athlete.
Hunsicker became the school’s all-time leader in receptions and receiving this past season, finishing his career with 114 catches and 1,732 yards. This past season, he caught 49 passes for 765 yards and five touchdowns.
Holmes, meanwhile, was a receiver a year ago but moved to quarterback this year. The Tigers’ signal-caller led his team to a 7-2 record and a berth in the District 11 Class 4A title game. The junior was a threat running and throwing the ball. He ran for a Times News area best 1,070 yards and also scored 13 touchdowns. He also completed 66 passes for 1,425 yards and 18 scores.
Hunsicker and Holmes join Palmerton’s Cole Serfass (Class 2A defensive athlete) as the only three Times News area players named to the All-State team.
