Dasean Damont Morris will stand trial in York County for the killing of Kyle Hagenbuch of Carbon County.
The 19-year old York man had a pre-trial conference Wednesday by Zoom in front of Common Pleas Judge Harry Ness.
“We listed for trial,” his attorney Sandra Thompson said.
A date was not set for the trial. Jury trials are suspended in York County through Jan. 31 because of the pandemic.
Thompson said the state is still waiting on evidence, something Kyle King, spokesperson for York County District David Sunday, confirmed.
“We have outstanding discovery and we’re waiting for the labs to come back,” King wrote in an email.
A status hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Feb. 16 in front of Ness.
Morris is charged with first and third-degree murder in Hagenbuch’s death July 31 in York City. Hagenbuch was shot outside in the area of 900 E. Clarke Ave. He died Aug. 2 at WellSpan York Hospital. His death was ruled a homicide. The DA’s office is not seeking the death penalty. Morris also faces charges of carrying a firearm without a license and marijuana possession. An omnibus pre-trial hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Jan. 12 in front of Ness.
