A look back: Dec. 17, 1985

The Summit Hill Borough Council appointed Mary Scapanda of Summit Hill as its new secretary-treasurer last night, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Kathryn Chickilly.

Scapanda, one of four applicants for the position, will assume all duties and responsibilities of Chickilly at the same salary, $10,000 per year.

During her 11 years in the borough’s employ, Chickilly served as the borough secretary and treasurer and was responsible for collecting wage and occupational privilege taxes and the annual garbage fee.

Scapanda comes to the borough from her current position with the Summit Hill Marble and Granite Company.
