An emergency alert has been issued about dangerous weather conditions. People are being told to get off the road and seek shelter.
The following snowfall totals were provided by the National Weather Service, Mount Holly, New Jersey as of 7:14 p.m.
Carbon County
Lower Towamensing Township 5.6 inches; 1 E Meckesville 3.0 inches
Northampton County
Nazareth 6.3 inches; North Catasauqua 5.7 inches; Martins Creek 4.1 inches; Bethlehem Township 3.5 inches; Easton 3.0 inches; 1 NW Riegelsville 2.9 inches.
Schuylkill County
The National Weather Service State College released the following snow total updates for Schuylkill County as of 7:17 p.m.
Auburn 9 inches; Tamaqua 7.8 inches; Schuylkill Haven 7 inches; Tower City 4.1 inches
The following roadways were closed Wednesday night due to the effects of winter storm Gail:
Schuylkill County
Route 209 between Tamaqua & Coaldale (as of 6:45 p.m.)
Route 309 south of Route 895, over the Blue Mountain (as of 6:50 p.m.)
Carbon County
A jack-knifed tractor trailer was reported around 8 p.m. on Route 209 at Packerton Yards.
Monroe County
According to reports, Interstate 80 is snow covered and crews cannot keep up with clearing the road.
