A quick response by area fire companies saved not only a home from fire but two occupants who were reportedly trapped inside.

The incident began around 6:30 p.m. when a neighbor reported there was smoke coming from the first floor of a home across the street in the 100 of West Water street in Lansford.

Firefighters were able to knock down the fire and locate the two inside the dwelling. The two victims were being treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics.

Responding to the scene were Lansford, Coaldale and Summit Hill fire companies.
