The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Friday that there were 12,745 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 470,034.
There are 5,852 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 1,191 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
The trend in the 14-day moving average of number of hospitalized patients per day has increased by nearly 4,500 since the end of September.
Statewide percent positivity for the week of November 27 - December 3 stood at 14.4%.
Local numbers
Carbon County reported 1,875 cases, an increase of 52 since Thursday. One more death was reported Friday for a total of 73.
Lehigh County reported 14,678, an increase of 294 since Thursday. Seven more deaths were reported since Thursday, for a total of 423.
Luzerne County has 12,478 cases, an uptick of 256 since Thursday. The county reported five more deaths. The count is now at 348.
Monroe reported 4,475, an increase of 76. Deaths are now at 170, as two more were reported Friday.
Northampton County reported 11,908 cases, 269 more than Thursday. There are 357 deaths after five more were reported Friday.
Schuylkill reported 5,349, 269 more than Thursday. Two more deaths were reported for a running total of 203.
