Fire companies in Nesquehoning assisted in the search for lost hunters on Friday.
At 1:40 p.m. crews were dispatched to the New Columbus section of Nesquehoning to the area of the New Columbus Fire Company for a search of two lost hunters.
The 911 center reported that the hunters were about 2,000 feet from the station up in the woods.
Due to the rough terrain, firefighters from the New Columbus and Hauto Fire Companies had to climb the mountain off the 100 block of West Diaz Avenue.
At the same time, the Nesquehoning Fire Company gained access to the mountain from the rifle range at the top of the Broad Mountain.
Hauto Assistant Chief Randy Kraus made first contact with the hunters.
It was found that they were not injured and made their way down the 2,500-foot descent down the mountain.
This was the second search Friday for lost hunters in Nesquehoning.
On Thursday night a hunter became lost and slept in the woods and called 9-1-1 in the morning.
Crews were called back out at 6 p.m. when a hunter was found dead of an apparent heart attack.
