The Tamaqua Area School District reported two COVID-19 cases on Thursday.
Superintendent Ray Kinder notified district families in a letter posted on the district website.
“The individuals are students at Tamaqua Elementary School (not in school in over two weeks) & West Penn Elementary School (not in school in 10 days),” Kinder’s letter said.
“It was determined that no additional individuals will need to quarantine. We continue to encourage you to follow all safety protocols. Individuals should not attend group functions, interact without face coverings, nor engage in large gatherings. The spread of this virus is dependent upon people to interact and have unnecessary contact. It is up to us to eliminate that possibility.”
Kinder also posted a letter reminding district families of protocols upon sending a student back to school, including the new mask mandate, which was enforced before the Thanksgiving break and does not permit the use of face shields on any TASD campus.
