State police release details on Monroe crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating the following crashes.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 8:33 p.m. on Nov. 14 along Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Mohamed L. Diallo, 54, of Brooklyn, New York, was eastbound driving a 2020 Nissan Altima when he saw a vehicle pull over on the right shoulder with its hazard lights activated.

Diallo moved from the right lane to the left as he approached the vehicle when his Altima struck a dead bear on the road. No one was injured but the vehicle had to be towed.

• Another crash was reported at 9:07 p.m. on Nov. 14 along I-80 in Tunkhannock Township. Mahmoud Dandouli, 67, of Saddle Brook, New Jersey, was driving a 2011 Toyota Rav4, eastbound when he failed to stay within his lane of travel. The Toyota crossed over the fog line and struck a tree head-on. Dandouli was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono, East Stroudsburg. He was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• Another crash on I-80 in Tunkhannock Township was reported at 2:13 p.m. on Nov. 11. Mathew K. Haycock, 24, of Columbia, New Jersey, was driving a 2012 Nissan Versa eastbound and due to driving too fast for conditions, went off the road on the south side and hit a tree.

Haycock was not injured but the vehicle was towed. He was cited for the crash.

• A crash was reported at 6:35 p.m. on Nov. 10 along Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Anthony Macaluso, 76, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra northbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. He was unable to avoid the animal and struck it. Macaluso was not injured but the vehicle was towed.
