The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Wednesday that there were 8,291 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 375,431.
There are 4,744 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 967 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
As of 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, there were 194 new deaths reported for a total of 10,757 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
There are 18,578 individuals who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 642 individuals who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure.
Local numbers
• Carbon County is reporting 1,421 cases, an increase of 55 since Tuesday. Three more deaths were reported for a total of 57.
• In Lehigh County, there are 11,868 cases, an increase of 289 since Tuesday. Deaths are now at 387 after two more were reported Tuesday.
• Luzerne County reported 10,098 cases, 212 more since Tuesday. Nine more deaths have been reported on Tuesday, which brings the running total to 294.
• Monroe County has 3,557, an increase of 108. Five more deaths were reported for a total of 153.
• In Northampton County, there are 9,444 cases, an increase of 245. Five more deaths were been reported for a total of 336.
• Schuylkill County has 4,253 cases, an additional 85 since Tuesday. Five more deaths are attributed to COVID-19, bringing the total to 181.
