Due to COVID-19, the holidays may look a bit different this year, but many community traditions are continuing in one form or another. • Palmerton Christmas in the Park, Dec. 5, 153 trees will be lit in the park, but no mass gatherings will be held. Santa will still be arriving by firetruck and driven throughout town between 1-3 p.m. Dec. 5 so children to wave to him.

• Lehighton Christmas in the Park, Dec. 4-6. A live virtual tour of each tree will take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 on the “Lehighton Borough Parks and Recreation Board” Facebook page.

• Tamaqua: Spirit of Christmas, Dec. 3-12. Lighting of the Depot Square Park at 6 p.m. Dec. 4. Beginning at 6:15 p.m., there will be a meet and greet with Santa. This is a free event, but tickets are required, which are available at TamaquaArts.org. Depot Square Park’s tree lighting is 6 p.m. Dec. 6. • The annual Parryville Christmas tree ceremony will be held on Dec. 5. Events will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the lighting will be around 6 p.m. Hot chocolate and coffee will be served. Fire company events for December include Breakfast with Santa from 8 a.m. to noon on Dec. 5, with Santa arriving at 9 a.m., and a Christmas party on Dec. 11 from 6-9 p.m. Participants should bring a $20 Secret Santa gift.

• Walnutport: The fourth annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be virtually broadcast via social media. The event will be held around 5 p.m. Dec. 5 at the borough’s Recreation Center at 215 Lincoln Ave., and residents and business owners in the area are invited to participate.

• Northern Lehigh Recreation will celebrate the season with its fifth annual Candy Cane Hunt on Dec. 12 beginning at 10 a.m. for children of all ages at Walnutport Park. Thousands of candy canes will be hidden around Walnutport’s playground and park. Several will be specially marked and able to be redeemed for a new holiday toy. The hunt itself will begin at 10:30 a.m. sharp and will be held rain or shine. The Northern Lehigh High School Chorale will lead A Christmas Carol singalong, and the Perk Up truck will be on hand selling a variety of hot and cold drinks. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed.

• Bowmanstown Family Activities Committee will hold Winterfest from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 12. Lime Street will be closed from Ore Street up to the fire company.

• Polk Township annual tree lighting ceremony, 4 p.m. Dec. 13. Due to the pandemic, everything will occur outside on Trach Road. The road will be blocked off to traffic. Santa will arrive on a Polk firetruck and hand out gifts. There will be crafts and snacks outside.

• Bowmanstown Family Activities Committee will hold Christmas caroling will take place starting at 7 p.m. Dec. 20 and meet at borough hall.
