Five Pleasant Valley players were recently named to the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Monroe Division all-star team.
Head coaches from the EPC selected the three teams, which also included the Northampton and Lehigh divisions.
The Bears’ Robert Papaleo was named on both offense and defense. The junior was selected as the First Team Offensive Athlete and made the Second Team as a safety. Papaleo, the team’s primary quarterback, led PV in rushing with 409 yards rushing. He scored eight touchdowns (in the team’s five games) and threw for 164 yards and two scores.
Papaleo’s main target was junior Ryan Blass, who was named to the Second Team as a wide receiver. Blass caught nine passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns. He averaged 27.8 yards per reception.
Two members of the team’s offensive line also received Second Team honors. Senior Chris Frable was selected for his performance at guard, while classmate Mason Demeglio was recognized for his work at center. The duo helped the Bears average nearly 222 yards rushing per contest during their 2-3 season.
In addition to those four, Jack Kaye also made the Second Team as a placekicker. Kaye, a senior, nailed 16 extra points and also booted a field goal.
The Monroe Division named Christian Sapp of East Stroudsburg South as the Offensive MVP, while Stroudsburg’s Jace Tutty was selected the Defensive MVP.
East Stroudsburg South also captured the team title in the EPC Monroe Division.
