Effective today, all borough buildings in Lehighton are closed to the public until further notice.
The borough posted the notice on its Facebook page that it will be “functioning with limited staffing and operations and we will continue to monitor and re-evaluate our operations as needed.”
Contacted this morning, a borough official said there are no COVID cases. A message on the borough’s voicemail states the buildings are closed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
As part of the closure, the borough has put the following measures in place:
• Essential services such as police, fire, electric and public works will remain operational.
• The municipal building is closed to the public with the exception of necessary appointments. Administration can be reached at 610-377-4002, and the utility office can be reached at 610-377-4004. Masks are required to enter the building for appointments.
• All customers are encouraged to pay their utility bill by mail (no cash payments), utility drop box on North Street side of the building (no cash payments), or online by E-Check: https://wipp.edmundsassoc.com/WippLEHG. The borough will reimburse $1.05 for paying via E-Check.
Only public meetings required by law will be held. All other meetings will be held remotely or canceled until further notice.
