Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center provided an update Thursday on COVID-19 cases in the home.
To date, 76 residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
According to the center’s website, 37 are still being treated as active cases.
Nine residents have been deemed as resolved COVID-19 cases.
More residents will be assessed next week, and will hopefully meet all state-required criteria for recovery. We will continue to strive for the health of our residents and a return to normalcy for all those affected, Devon Mickey, vice president, said in his message.
To date, 27 staff have tested positive, and 23 of them remain asymptomatic.
Mickey said the center has entered Phase 3 of the COVID-19 Plan, which means all residents are staying in their current rooms.
“We feel this effort to shelter in place is now necessary for the continuum of care for our residents while maintaining isolation precautions for all,” Mickey said.
“We will continue to test all residents and staff for COVID-19 weekly. All staff and residents are continually monitored for potential symptoms, Mickey said.
The staff continues to use N-95 masks, face shields, gowns, and gloves for all resident care and cleaning procedures.
