Panther Valley’s Erika Dubosky was recently named the Schuylkill League Division 2 Volleyball Player of the Year.

Dubosky (MB/S) led the Panthers back to the District 11 Class 2A final. The seniors had 226 kills, 45 aces, 14 blocks, 53 digs and 114 assists. In her career, she finished with 958 kills and 405 aces - both school records - and also over 500 digs.

“Erika is one of the most versatile players I have ever coached,” said PV head coach Emilie Baker. “We switched her position this year to running middle and being a setter. She was a leader on our court this season and worked through injuries to be able to play. She left a big mark on our program.

“As for my team, I had a lot of kids step up this year to take roles of our past seniors. My team knew this season would be different, but they worked extra hard knowing at any point we could stop. Overall, we had a good season and my seniors will be truly missed.”

PV’s Jenna Dubosky was the Division 2 Player of the Year the past two seasons.

Seniors Alexis Cooper (L), Natalie White (MB/OH) and Madison Heckman (S/OH), along with junior Abbey Vermillion (MB/OH), earned First Team honors for Panther Valley.

District 11 Class 1A champion Marian also had four players earn First Team honors. Seniors Alivia Karchner (OH), Tatiana Zeleniak (L) and Jamison Wheeler (OPP), and junior Ashlyn Klitsch (S) were First Team selections in Division 4.

In Division 1, Jim Thorpe seniors Abbey McGinley (LB) and Brandy Montemuro (OH) earned First Team honors.

In addition to Dubosky, Blue Mountain’s Myah Conway (Division 1), Minersville’s Sara Motley (Division 3) and Nativity’s Samantha Heenan (Division 4) also earned Player of the Year honors.
