Palmerton Area School Board voted 8-1 Tuesday night to go virtual in December and cancel sports during that time.
At the recommendation of Dr. Jodi Frankelli and the state departments of health and education, the board agreed to full virtual instruction beginning Dec. 1, when school resumes after Thanksgiving break.
The district will transition out of the plan in January, if three of four weeks are in state’s moderate designation.
Sports are canceled during the full remote instruction plan.
Director Earl Paules voted against the move.
