A Veterans Day breakfast for paid up members and one guest will be held on Nov. 14 at Leiby’s Restaurant at 11 a.m.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Please wear a mask.

St. John Lutheran
The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. Sunday service in St. John’s Lutheran Church. Doors will open at 9 a.m. and masks are required. Congregational meeting will follow the worship service.

Primitive Methodist
Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m. Recorded service is available at www.tamaquachurch.org and www.facebook.com/PMChurchTamaqua.
Hope in the Mountains, a Nar-Anon family group, meets at 57 Hunter St. If you have questions or are interested in attending these meetings, contact Mark at 570-952-5098.
Tamaqua Thrift Store
Thanks to its popularity, the Tamaqua Zion Lutheran Pop-up Thrift Store will remain open for limited hours in early November.
The store will be open Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Nov. 14 from noon to 4 p.m.
A limited menu of soups will be available for takeout. Masks must be worn and social distancing observed.
Zion Lutheran is located at Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets.
Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Ralph Saunders will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. Sunday service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:15 a.m. Sunday evening service at 6:30 p.m. is a time of singing, caring and sharing.
Other activities: Nov. 18, prayer and praise service at 7 p.m. Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. will be the Thanksgiving and harvest home service. Bring nonperishable food items to present to Pastor and Mrs. Saunders.
Beta Sigma Phi
Members of Preceptor Alpha Upsilon met recently and collected donations of nonperishable food items for the local food bank. We also donated a gift card from Koch’s Turkey Farm for a Thanksgiving turkey. Ideas for our Christmas meeting were also discussed. Following the meeting, the Torchbearer Ritual was held for Patti Confer and Sue Hummel. This is the highest degree for members of Beta Sigma Phi. The next meeting is Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Leiby’s Restaurant.
Rush-Ryan Seniors
The Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors met Oct. 13 at Christ Church, Barnesville. The president opened the meeting with the reading “Your Needful Hour” followed by the Lord’s prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and singing of “God Bless America.”
Edna, Fegley, Joe St. Onge, Gladys Arner and Dorothy DeWire were added to the sick list. Birthday wishes were offered to Carol Sedlock and Shirley Kaiser.
The Christmas party has been canceled for this year. Donations were received of a Halloween wreath by Lucille Spaar and scarecrow by Diane Gould. A pumpkin pillow and filled basket, bought by the club. were all chanced off. Winners were Pat Tracey, pumpkin pillow; Muriel Wehr, filled basket; John and Mary Ann Fredericks, scarecrow; Jane Barron, wreath. Nancy Godenis and Eleanor Schmerfield donated tablets and pens for the card players.
Oct. 27. The president opened the meeting with the Lord’s Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and singing of God Bless America. Joe St. Once, Vonnie Kotchmar, Beverly Barron and Nancy Schugart were added to the sick list.
The Nov. 10 meeting was opened by the president with a prayer for our service men and women.
Rose Vallee, Pat Brown, Pat Valasek, Bonnie Kochmar, Anthony Zahora were all added to the sick list. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Fredericks were extended anniversary wishes as they celebrated their 36 anniversary.
Birthdays celebrated were: John Taylor, John Fredericks, Edna Romanick. New member Tom Yasenchok was given a warm welcome. Veteran members were honored for their service.
There will be no meetings until further notice.
