State police at Lehighton investigate crashes
State police at Lehighton reported on the following crashes being investigated by troopers:
• A crash occurred on Oct. 13 at 3:02 a.m. in which one driver is facing a driving under the influence charge. Troopers said the crash occurred along Kunkletown Road in Eldred Township, Monroe County, as Jon Paul Hogden, 25, of Saylorsburg, was stopped with his 1986 Honda CMX disabled in the westbound lane and attempting to get aid.
Arthur C. Parisi, 30, of Kunkletown, was observed traveling at a high rate of speed in a 2016 Ford Mustang westbound. Attempts were made to slow him down with negative results. Parisi’s vehicle struck the rear of the Honda. After impact the Mustang traveled up an embankment and rolled onto its roof where it came to rest.
Parisi sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono, East Stroudsburg. Both vehicles were towed.
Parisi was found to be under the influence with charges to be filed.
• On Oct. 13 at 5:41 a.m. a crash occurred along Old Route 115 in Ross Township. Troopers said Dana E. Millroy, 34, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2012 Ford Explorer northbound with Emmanuelle J. Mbadinga, 22, of Brodheadsville, driving a 2016 Nissan Rogue, directly behind him. Mbadinga was following too closely and struck the rear of the Explorer. After impact Mbadinga lost control of his vehicle which entered the opposing lane of travel and struck a 2006 Toyota Rav4 driven by Karen L. Bowers, 57, of Kunkletown, head-on.
Mbadinga and Bowers were taken to the LVH-Pocono for treatment of minor injuries. Millroy was not injured. All three vehicles had to be towed.
Mbadinga was cited for the crash.
• A crash was reported on Nov. 5 at 9:50 a.m. at the intersection of Little Gap Road and Delaware Avenue in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Serena D. Peterson, 62, of East Stroudsburg, driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue, and approaching a stop sign at the intersection while on Little Gap Road. Jason M. Dickert, 41, of Whitehall, driving a 2018 Dodge Ram truck, was northbound on Delaware Avenue about to continue onto Forest Inn Road. Peterson did not come to a complete stop at the intersection and proceeded to go straight in front of Dickert. The front of the Ram struck the passenger side of the Rogue.
No one was injured. The Rogue had to be towed. Volunteers from the Aquashicola Fire Company assisted at the scene.
Troopers cited Peterson for a stop sign violation.
• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 10:06 a.m. on Nov. 4 at the intersection of Route 209 and Harrity Road, in Franklin Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Vishnu V. Gogineni, 29, of Malvern, Chester County, was driving a 2018 Dodge Challenger and attempting to maneuver a left-hand turn from 209 onto Harrity Road while Donna L. Haydt, 57, of Palmerton, driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla, was southbound on 209. The Challenger struck the Corolla.
No one was injured.
Troopers cited Gogineni for the crash.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:42 p.m. on Oct. 8 along Scenic Drive in Polk Township, Monroe County. Troopers said a 16-year-old male from Kunkletown, was driving a 2008 Nissan Sentra when he attempted to slow down to avoid hitting a vehicle in his lane. The teen lost control of the vehicle which struck a sign and then an embankment along the berm.
The teen was not injured. He was cited for the crash.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 11:17 p.m. on Oct. 10 along Forest Street in Towamensing Township. Troopers said a 16-year-old male from Lehighton was operating a 2006 Ford Focus when it left the road and struck a tree. The teen and his 17-year-old male passenger from Nesquehoning, were not injured. The teen was cited for the crash.
• Troopers investigated a crash on Oct. 27 at 10:50 p.m. along Route 248 in Parryville, Carbon County. Alexis T. Hensley, 24, of Lehighton, and Brandice Boner, 40, also of Lehighton, were both eastbound with Hensley following Boner. Boner stopped for a deer on the road and his 2006 Volkswagen Jetta was struck in the rear by Hensley’s 2005 Dodge Neon.
No one was injured. Hensley was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
