The Panther Valley Chapter of UNICO, at its banquet Saturday night at the Mahoning Valley Country Club, recognized the outstanding work being done by the Carbon County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of Retarded Children.
Stephen Nalesnik, chairman of the club’s fundraising program, presented a check for $225.84 to Cy Apfelbaum, Jim Thorpe, representing PARC, who spoke of plans for the Sheltered Workshop for the benefit of mentally disabled children who have attained the age of 21 and can no longer be served in other schools of the county.
The facility will be constructed near the site of the Carbon County Vocational Technical School in Jim Thorpe.
