Faith Alive Church
Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) will be celebrating Thanksgiving the whole month with Pastor Rob Timlin. Faith Alive is pleased to announce that they are starting two services again. At 9 a.m. will be the traditional worship, and at 10:30 a.m. will be contemporary worship. The four options remain the same: in the sanctuary and in Leah’s Room (mask required); in parking lot with audio at FM 104.3; or online through Facebook Live.
Prayer & Praise is every Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The November mission is the Faith Alive Benevolence Fund. It is designed to meet the emergency needs that arise within the church family and in the community.
The ABC Food Pantry could use food donations, especially canned meat and spaghetti sauce at this time.
The Youth Group will meet Nov. 8 from 6-8 p.m. This will be “Nerf Night.” All youth ages 12 years to 12th grade are welcome.
Holy Trinity cookies
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, is again taking orders for their famous molasses tongue cookies. They are the same ones that are sold at the community festival. This is your last chance before the holidays. They freeze well. Order by Nov. 18. Call Teri at 610-392-1865. Pickup is Nov. 23 from noon to 5 p.m.
Thanksgiving filling sale
Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trachsville, is taking orders for filling. This is fresh, not frozen. Orders are due by Nov. 8 by calling 610-681-5200 or 610-681-5403. Pickup is Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Fire company filling sale
The Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Co., Little Gap Road, Palmerton, is holding its annual filling sale. Order by Nov. 9 by calling 610-826-2066. The filling will be available for curbside pickup or inside pickup with mask on Nov. 24 after 7 p.m. or Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the fire company.
St. John’s Lutheran Church
St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, has returned to its regular worship inside the church. Masks must be worn and social distancing will be observed. Service begins at 10:30 a.m. For those who wish to remain in the parking lot in their car, you will be able to follow along with the service through your car radio as before.
Nearly New Shop
The Nearly New Shop is currently accepting donations of clean, gently used clothing, shoes, boots and small household treasures. The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. They also are in need of volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, they will help you through the St. Luke’s process for volunteers. Please call Karen at 484-515-1049.
Community dinner
Living Hope Lighthouse Church, Third Street, Palmerton, will be hosting another community Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner will be Nov. 25, but this year it will be curbside pickup only. Give the church a call that evening at 610-826-2201 starting at 4:30 p.m. They will take calls until 7:30 p.m. Curbside pickup ends at 8 p.m.
Bo Tkach Foundation
The Bo Tkach Foundation Turkey Trot has been canceled due to COVID-19, but you can still donate to purchase turkeys for needy families on behalf of the foundation. For the month of November go on www.botkach.com then go to the donation page. Donations of turkeys will be given to the local food pantry for December distribution. Food donation boxes are also available at Hager Furniture (for public) and Dedicated Fitness (for gym members) to complete holiday meals. They are asking for canned vegetables, instant mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy in cans, cranberry sauce, and cake mix with icing. Donations can be dropped off at these locations for the month of November. Scouts will also be on site at Country Harvest on Nov. 22 and Nov. 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to collect items. Help keep the spirit of the Turkey Trot and our community alive this holiday season.
This is also an Eagle Scout Project of Billy Drake, Scout Troop 209.
