Dennis and Candace Gandy of Lehighton announce the engagement of their daughter, Taylor Gandy, to Matthew Shirley, son of Joseph and Michelle Shirley of Collegeville.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of DeSales University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in biology; and a graduate of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, where she earned a master’s in biomedical science. She is employed as a senior clinical scientist at Merck & Co. Inc. in North Wales. She is the granddaughter of Thomas and Anita Sheehan of Jim Thorpe and Jacqulynne and the late Mark McCool of Andreas.

The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of West Chester University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in finance and is an MBA candidate at Penn State University. He is employed as a relationship manager at the Vanguard Group in Malvern. He is the grandson of the late Thomas and Francis Martinka of Philadelphia.

The couple resides in Royersford, and a June 18, 2021, wedding is being planned.
