A student at the Penn Kidder Campus tested positive for coronavirus recently, Jim Thorpe Area School District officials announced Thursday.
The student was last in the building on Monday and the district learned of their test results on Thursday.
There were no reported close contacts with the student, so no one else has been ordered to isolate, and the school will remain open.
There is no connection between the case at Penn Kidder and the case reported in a staff member at LB Morris school on Thursday.
With all students in the district already scheduled for remote learning on Friday, the district decided to conduct an enhanced deep cleaning of both buildings, Superintendent John Rushefski said.
“We’ve utilized the CARES act funds to equip the schools with shields, which help with teaching and learning. And of course being on the hybrid schedule is good too. We only have one-third of students in the school at a time,” Rushefski said.
